Oscar Niemeyer: Acho que o arquiteto tem que saber desenhar, fazer o desenho figurativo, desembaraçar a mão, pra trabalhar.
Quando me pedem um prédio público por exemplo, como fiz agora três em Brasília, eu procuro fazer bonito, diferente, que crie surpresa, que eu sei que os mais pobres não vão usufruir em nada, né? Mas eles podem parar e ter um momento assim de prazer, de surpresa, ver uma coisa nova, esse é o lado assim que a arquitetura pode ser útil, o resto quando tiver um programa humano, social, essa coisa toda, aí ela vai cumprir o seu destino, por enquanto só usa a arquitetura quem tem dinheiro, os outros tão fudidos aí nas favelas.
Olha aqui, meu lema é esse aí…viu o homenzinho lá em cima? Esse negócio vermelho: fudido não tem vez….tá escrito aí.

Oscar Niemeyer: Porque é comum, quando vc quer realçar a arquitetura numa praça, é deixar ela limpa, sem nada. Então você olha e vê os diversos edifícios. Você vê a relação que tem um com o outro, você sente a importância da praça, e no Brasil às vezes, é o lado, assim, medíocre, as pessoas ficam reclamando….mas porque que a praça dos Três poderes não tem vegetação, por que tanto sol? E a gente tem que explicar isso, que é tão intuitivo, que ali é um a praça cívica, que é diferente, tem que valorizar a arquitetura. Tudo tem que dar uma explicação, a mediocridade ativa é uma merda.

Oscar Niemeyer (Sobre sua escolha política): Uma das vezes que eu fui depor, né, me puseram numa sala escura com material absorvente, eu fiquei respondendo as perguntas, um crioulinho batendo a máquina, e num certo momento ele perguntou: Mas Doutor Niemeyer, afinal, o que vocês querem? Aí eu disse: Mudar a sociedade. E o crioulinho, que devia querer ter uma vida melhor, virou-se pra mim e disse: Vai ser difícil, hein!
